I’m sure many of us parents heard that sensory play is important for your babies and young children - it helps them use their five senses and boosts their language and motor skills. It also helps them learn more about their environment and the world around them - sparking curiosity and exploration.
For my 11-month-old, I added a small strip of turf into her indoor play area. Her play area is filled with different self-exploration toys, sensory activities, and your average battery-operated toys. Since adding the turf, I catch her standing on it and walking back and forth several times throughout the day / the times she’s in there. Having the option and ability to go to the turf on her terms allows her to explore her curiosity rather than having me or someone “force” it upon her.
